Exceptionally showy, silvery blue foliage on a broad pyramidal form makes this a highly attractive landscape accent, excellent for screens, hedges, and group plantings. This tough plant has a dense, compact-branching habit. Evergreen. Give this robust gray Juniper lots of space. It is a rugged and reliable plant for large-scale screening, massive hedges and windbreaks. Also works well as a single specimen in lawns or in conjunction with other groundcovers. Use as a corner element streetside or to interrupt long fence lines. Include a topiary form of this plant in a porch or entryway container planting. As its name suggests, the silver-gray foliage will reflect light under strong moonlight. Easily grown in a wide range of soils, including clay, alkaline and compacted soils; avoid wet, soggy soils. Water deeply, regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system; reduce frequency, once established. Prune annually to shape. This low-maintenance, upright evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Shear annually to maintain desired shape. Pruning is not required.
