Florida Foliage

Gardenia Radicans Dwarf | Live Plants | Fragrant Blooming Shrub | Gardenia Jasminoides Cape Jasmine

The Gardenia has a low, spreading growth pattern and is smaller than the regular variety. Its white flowers have a strong fragrance and it will continue to bloom during late spring and summer. Pruning off dead blooms will encourage it to rebloom. In fall, it produces orange fruits which attract birds. It requires part shade to full sun; however, some afternoon shade is advisable as leaves may scorch and buds may drop. Acidic soil that is high in organic matter and has good drainage is a must. Creeping gardenia makes an excellent foundation plant, low-hedge groundcover, or border planting. Place it beside a patio or walkway to fully enjoy its large and fragrant blooms. It even works well planted in containers. This dwarf variety is small enough to fit just about anywhere and does great in containers, so you can even plant a few to move indoors for winter. Its long-blooming flowers appear in semi-double blooms late spring to mid/late summer. Their fragrance is intense and sure to turn heads even more often than do the sight of the delicate, white blossoms. Dark green, shiny leaves that are leathery in texture will fill out your Gardenia, providing an elegant contrast against the white flowers. Dwarf Gardenia Radicans has a gently rounded form and dwarf nature, so is much smaller than other Gardenia varieties. The Dwarf Gardenia Radicans is relatively easy to care for, and will prove an asset not only to your home, but also to the wildlife that live there, as it's a strong lure to pollinators.
