Blue Pfitzer Juniper. 'Pfitzeriana Glauca' A truly superior shrub! Beautiful silvery-blue soft foliage held on a handsome upright form with arching branches. Easily trained into many forms. Durable evergreen tolerates heat, cold and drought. A very hardy juniper that is capable of withstanding a variety of harsh conditions, such as dry and windy. Good blue color, especially in older plants turning a shade of bluish/purple in the winter. Has ascending, arching branches. Can be used for foundation plantings, or grouped together to form a border / hedge planting as well. Can be trimmed in order to maintain them within a certain height or width if desired. This fast-growing evergreen transforms into bluish green foliage in spring transforming blue-purple in winter. Its upright growth habit can be easily trained into other forms reaching 4-5 feet tall. Best performs as groundcover, medium-sized shrub, and topiary. This easy-to-grow evergreen needs a regular water schedule to ensure the growth of a mature root system. After the mature root system is established, watering is needed occasionally, except during a drought, watering is needed regularly. Prune once or twice a year around the edges in order to keep the middle of the plant full. Follow a regular watering schedule during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Watering can be reduced after establishment. Feed with a general purpose fertilizer before new growth begins in spring.
